One question which comes up time and time again is about the options for the best places to dine in the resort and what nightclubs, night-life and bars there are for us visitors.

Where to drink in Cap d'agde i.e. the best bars

If you are visiting for the first time then after working out where to stay, you might then be wondering what options there are when it comes to restaurants and places to drink in the resort.

The good news is that there are dozens of bars and restaurants within the naturist resort. I haven’t counted them all but there must be 15 bars or more and more than 20 restaurants.

Below are our favourite places to eat and drink in the resort.

Please also let us know your favourites by adding a comment at the bottom of this post.

Dining out in the Village at Cap d’Agde

The village is self-contained in that you can literally stay in the resort for one or two month’s and not need to leave the resort entrance.

This self-fulfilling nature of the resort means that for eating, you have the option to shop in one of the shopping centre’s (located in the Heliopolis, Port Ambonne and Port Nature buildings) or you can dine out in one of the many restaurants in the resort.

The choice of food within the resort is quite varied although. given the nature of the resort and its coastal location, seafood is on the menu in most of the resort restaurants.

Mussels, fish and lobster can be found in many of the best restaurants, whilst you can also choose from options which include Italian, French, Chinese and American style foods.

Some of the best restaurants in the resort are below:

Local bar

Le Mississippi Restaurant, Cap d’Agde

This is my own personal favourite and judging by how crowded this restaurant gets on weekends and on week-nights in peak months, this is a very popular restaurant with many visitors.

If eating fresh seafood (make sure to order the mussels) whilst having a great view of the beach and sea, if your idea of eating out, then Le Mississippi is a great option.

Their prices are very reasonable and the location (end of Port Nature close to the beach) is excellent.

Many regulars tend to reserve tables and you might find it hard to get a table in you want to dine at peak hours on weekends.

This is an open-air restaurant and in terms of staff, service in my experience has always been excellent and the staff very friendly.

Waiki Beach Restaurant

There are two options in Waiki Beach.

1) If you want to lounge by the large swimming pool in the daytime, whilst having something to eat and drink.

This is a basic option which is a decent price and a great daytime way to relax and have a bit to eat.

2) There is also a bar and restaurant on the front side and this is perfect for evenings time and ideal for enjoying the quite revealing and interesting outfits people wear in the resort and enjoy parading as they walk through the walkway past Waiki Beach.

The main restaurant offers high-quality food and although not the cheapest in the resort, it is decent from my experience. Certainly worth trying once during your stay.

Bar and Places to Drink

There is a great choice of places to drink in the resort with different bars, clubs and restaurants serving alcohol in the resort.

In terms of the bars, each tends to cater for their niche clients, although many people drink in many of these bars and have no particular favourite and like to vary where they drink over the course of a week or month, for variety.

The best bars in the resort include the following:

1. Melrose Cafe

Whether you drink in Melrose Cafe or not, you will inevitably walk past this open-plan bar many times whilst in the resort given its central location and the fact that the bar is on the side of one of the main entrances to the Port Nature building.

This bar is especially popular because of the free-to-watch pole dancing which takes place most evenings and which is performed by amateur dancers.

Whether or not you buy a drink, you can still enjoy the dancing, without entering the bar. Just stand outside and watch as the bar is pretty much open-plan.

If you do not like crowds then this is maybe not the bar for you, but if you are looking for one of the liveliest places in the resort then this bar is worth a visit.

2. O2 Bizoux Bar (Was Johnny Wokkers)

Very popular with British and German visitors, this English and French-speaking bar is right next to Le Mississippi on the beach.

This bar has its own roof terrace and is situated perfectly if want to grab a pint or glass or pitcher of wine, on leaving the beach, before heading back to your apartment to prepare for the evening.

O2 Bizoux Bar sometimes has live entertainment on and in the peak months, this bar can get very busy late at night.
