If you are planning a camping holiday in France and are looking for somewhere in addition to Cap d’Agde, you are spoilt for choice as far as locations are concerned.

France boasts campsites near the sea, in wine-growing areas, in the mountains, and near cities. Here are some suggestions for places you can go camping in this beautiful country.

Best campsites in France

1. Le Grande Metairie

Le Grande Metairie is one of the best campsites in France and is located in South Brittany.

There is plenty to do here including the opportunity to enjoy a range of water sports and adventure activities.

The camping facilities are excellent and the site itself is close to the beach and other historical sites.

Many of the large UK tour companies including Keycamp have a relationship with this campsite hence you can be assured of the standard of this resort.

There is live entertainment at the resort and which does go on until around 11 pm.

If you want peace and quiet try and get allocated a spot that is away from the entertainment area and away from the main building.

You can find out further information on their site at lagrandemetairie.com.

2. Campsite Holiday Green

If you would like to take a holiday in the Côte d’Azur area, a good option would be Campsite Holiday Green in Fréjus in this region.

This campsite is set among acres of pine forest and is one of the higher-standard venues at which you can stay.

Similar to many of the top sites in France, the facilities are excellent and entertainment can be found on-site.

The beaches are a quarter of an hour’s drive but you do also have some entertainment with the campsite including tennis courts, mini-golf and some shows in the evenings.
