Cap d’Agde is a fantastic location for a week or two but what if you want to stay there the whole summer you may wonder?

Spending a whole summer season in Cap d'Agde

Is it a reality to spend a whole four or five months going for long walks on the beach every day, eating outdoors on one’s camp spot next to your camper can or mobile home with a glass of local French red wine?

Many people do!

So below in this post let us take a look at the realities, considerations, and choices for staying a whole summer season in the resort.

Accommodation for a Whole Summer

There are a couple of realistic and different options with respect to accommodation for the whole summer season in the village.

Apartment for the season

The first choice is to buy an apartment and use the place yourself for the whole season.

You can consider renting an apartment but this is unlikely to be really practical because the rental income owners can get is high in the key months of July and August.

These high rates make renting an apartment for long periods, unrealistic for most people.

You can buy an apartment from Euros 100,000 upwards and several people we know have bought their own apartment so that they can spend the whole season in the resort. It is possible.

The Summer Based in the Campsite Area

The second option and the best option is the campsite.

Static Mobile Home with Permanent Spot

Within the campsite, you can either pay to have a permanent static brand new mobile home (comes with full plumbing also including bedroom and bathroom and living room area).

If you spend Euros 22,000 or so then you automatically get allocated a permanent spot.

You will still have to pay for the annual season fee which tends to be 3 or 4 thousand Euros a season, but when you consider that water and electricity are included, this is a very cost-effective way to stay in the resort.

Be warned though that if you buy a mobile home, if you ever sell it, you must sell it through the campsite owner Rene Oltra.

Your Own Caravan and Permanent Spot

A cheaper option again though at the campsite is to buy a caravan or motor home and to take it down each summer.

The spots cost roughly Euros 50 a night so staying for 2 months at around Euros 3000 is a good price for a long stay.

After a few years, if the front office in the campsite takes a liking to you, you can often get offered a permanent camp spot.

A permanent spot means that you pay one fee for the whole season and it works out quite cheap for the whole season.

Is it Practical and Realistic to Stay All Summer?

There is absolutely no reason why you cannot stay season long and many people are doing it.

From mid-March to mid-September you can, in fact, get a full 6-month season in if you wish.

Be warned though that it can be quite chilly and windy sometimes up until May or June.

Considerations: Internet Access

Internet access is one thing that many of us need these days, especially with many of us running online businesses.

Internet access is still not always easy to get if you are based in the campsite and using their own Internet service. The connections, in fact, can be quite poor in the busy months.

It can be hit or miss and depend to an extent, where you are based in the campsite, i.e. how far you are from one of the transmission masts.

Buy your own apartment and you can get the Internet installed via a company such as Orange France.

Be warned though that things simply do not happen as quickly as they do in the UK or USA and other countries.

It can be a frustrating process doing some of the simple things down here in France, but they do get done eventually.

Consideration 2: Laundry, Fitness and Getting Dressed

Some other considerations include some everyday and simple things such as doing laundry.

If you are only visiting a week, chances are this is never something that crosses your mind.

In the campsite though, there are a couple of launderettes and even in the peak of summer, you can usually find a spare machine in the middle of the day (the launderette is located close to the main entrance to the campsite).

Within the main resort area, there is a launderette in the Port Ambonne building next to the bakery.

Consideration 3: Keeping Fit and Healthy

We have a special page on the fitness options in the resort here.

For keeping fit, the Natureva Spa hotel offers fitness classes and has a gym with which you can pay as you go or sign up for 1, 3, and 6-month membership.

The 6-month membership is a reasonable standard gym cost and a great option.

Whilst not especially large, the gym does not get overly busy and is a great option for those of you staying in the resort.

Long walks as mentioned earlier on, is another choice. Some people choose to jog on the beach every morning.

You might actually find that you have a desire to visit the clothed area outside of the resort if you are in the naturist village for a whole season.

The local town has a weekly market and the marina area is a classy location with many excellent bars and restaurants.
