How to get from Marseilles to Cap d'Agde

Airport Transfers from Marseilles to Cap d’Agde

It is certainly possible to get an airport shuttle from Marseille Province Airport directly to the naturist resort at Cap d’Agde, although it becomes affordable more so as a group, such as for 5, 6, or 8 people.

Expect to pay around 370 Euros for the driver and mini-bus (in total so that works out roughly 45 Euros per person for a group of 8).

You can BOOK ONLINE via A2A taxi service. See our transfers page for full details on the airport limousine and shuttle service between Marseille and Cap d’Agde. The drivers speak English in addition to being French-speaking.

Trains from Marseilles to Le Cap d’Agde

You can travel from Marseille’s train and rail station (known as the ‘Gare de Marseilles-Saint-Charles).

Note that you cannot get a train to Cap d’Agde, because the local train station is in the town of Agde. It is called Gare du Agde!

From Agde train station you can get a taxi or bus to the resort. When booking a train though, you need to search for Marseille to Agde.

Alternatively, you can get the MP1 or MP2 bus between the airport and the train station.

Driving from Marseilles to Le Cap d’Agde

If you are interested in renting in the south of France, you will find the drive a very scenic and enjoyable one.

Do not be tempted though to stop off at too many of the vineyards you will see dotted along the route, in what is a popular wine region.

Do be warned also that the local police can be very strict when it comes to speeding.

I would advise you to keep religiously to the speed limits and, if caught, be prepared for an on-the-spot fine.

The RAC has some handy up-to-date information on driving in France, which can also be worth reading.

Overnight Accommodation in Marseille

Marseille is a lovely city which, if flying into the location anyway, is certainly worth a stay for 1 or 2 nights.

The following are hotels in Marseille that I can recommend and have personally stayed in at some point.

Citadines Castellane Marseilles

(60 Rue du Rouet) – This is a lovely hotel where the staff from my experience have always been very accommodating and friendly.

Although not right in the heart of the city center, it is relatively easy to get around with a metro stop close to the hotel.

The accommodation, as far as I know, is all the apartments which have cooking facilities in case you want to cook.

There are many very good restaurants in the area also though. Always reasonably priced and overall a great option.

Alex Hotel

(13-15 Place des Marseillaise) – This is In a very central location and ideal for a one-night stay (and more) because it is very close to the train station.

So, if you are flying and want to stay one night before getting a train to Agde the next day, this is an excellent choice.

The hotel is within walking distance of all the local attractions, including the harbor, and is situated such that access to shopping, restaurants, and bars makes it a perfect location.

The rooms I have always had have been very clean and the staff is always very friendly.  You cannot go too far wrong with this place.

What to See in Marseille

Marseille Shore Excursion

One of the easiest ways to take in Marseille, if you are here for only a short time, is to do one of the guided tours such as the Marseille shore excursion tour.

This tour includes all of the main attractions, such as the Place d’Albertas fountain and the Cours Mirabeau.

Tours leave from the Port of Marseille, which is a close walk to many of the local hotels.

Basilique Notre Dame de la Garde

Try to make a point of visiting the Basilique Notre Dame, one of the city’s most popular and photographed attractions.

The inside and outside of the church are simply stunning and quite breathtaking.

As it is situated in one of the highest locations of the city, you also get some wonderful views of the city. This is a must-visit attraction!
