Camping accommodation at Cap d'Agde, France - naturist
resort
Overview:
Camping at Cap d'Agde naturism and naturist
resort, France
Staying on the campsite is a very
different and excellent experience, compared
to staying in the units and hotel accommodation
in the naturism and naturists resort. Unlike
areas around the hotel, people walk clothesless
around the campsite 24 hours a day and many
families and groups of friends stay on the campsite.
Additionally the facilities are simply excellent
and there are:
- Showers and toilets on every few blocks
- An environment certainly suitable for
families staying at Cap d'Agde. This summer
many families were camping hence we nearly
got run over by kids on bicycles a few times
:)
- An activities club for children with
a mini club which offers a club for children
- Activities also for adults including
a basketball court, table-tennis, boules,
play area and hall, snack bar, launderette
and Internet access etc
The atmosphere in my view is by far the
best when staying in the camp area. One
thing to note is that you WILL need to have
a FFN (French Federation of Naturisme) card,
if you stay in the camping area BUT you
can buy the card when you arrive in the
Rene Oltra office when you check in, so
no problem. The 2000+ camping pitches have
electricity connections. One of the main
companies dealing with camping in Cap d'Agde
naturist resort is C.H.M. Rene Oltra.

Toilet
and shower facilities
The
facilities are excellent on the campsite and
this includes all of the shower and toilet blocks.
The shower and toilet blocks can be found always
within a few blocks i.e. never more than 5 minutes
walk (at the most). The blocks appeared to be
cleaned at least twice a day with pressure hose.
There are plenty of sinks for washing clothes
on the outside of the units, sinks for shaving
and washing your teeth etc in the blocks and
both Turkish style and European style toilets
(seated toilets). There are shower blocks which
provide hot water and others which provide cold.

There
are several shops and a couple of supermarkets
within the naturism and nudism resort at Cap d'Agde, but when staying on the camping site
at Cap d'Agde, there is also a fruit and vegetables
stall just inside the camping entrance (note
that you must have a pass to enter the campsite).
By the front entrance of the campsite there
is also often a pizza van.
Additionally, there is a food
place pretty much in the middle of the campsite
(they sell baguettes, roast chickens, some other
foods and they also have a small inside shop
with basics such as matches, toilet paper etc).
At this campsite mid-point, they also sell wine
and drinks and there are several tables and
chairs for you to sit down. You will also find
3 telephone boxes here.

Launderette (On the campsite at Cap d'Agde)
There
is a small self service launderette room on
the campsite in Cap d'Agde naturist/naturism
and nudism resort. The launderette is located
just inside the main entrance to the campsite,
next door to the Rene Oltra office. You will
probably only need to use the washing machines
because you can hang your clothes out to dry
at your camp spot. A lot of people choose simply
to wash their own clothes because the shower
blocks usually have sinks where you can wash
clothes or dishes (i.e. deep sinks on the outside
of the shower blocks).
*I highly recommend buying a portable washing
line which you can buy for about €5 in
most airports.
*If you are not using clothes hardly at all
during your stay (as is the plan on a naturism
resort), you shouldn't have much washing to
do during your stay - one great advantage of
this kind of holiday.

Booking your stay at Cap d'Agde campsite
in the naturism naturist resort
If you wish to book to stay on
the campsite at Cap d'Agde naturism and nudism
resort, you will have
to book through the company RENE OLTRA. The
office (as shown in the photo on the left) is
based just inside the main entrance to the campsite
area.
You can book a camping pitch or
rented accommodation (see property types below)
and you can do this online on the Rene
Oltra website. if you need to email
Rene Oltra direct then their email is: infos@chm-reneoltra.fr
or you can call them on
Tel : 04 67 01 06 36. All of the staff
in the rene Oltra office spoke English when
we were there so communicating in English is
not usually a problem.

Types of accommodation available
on the campsite
There
are a few different accommodation types if you
are staying in the
camping area at Cap d'Agde naturist resort.
You an choose from
- chalets
- mobile homes
- or camping spots
There are various prices according
to the size and type of accommodation hence
it is best to check with the Rene Oltra website
if you are considering staying on the campsite.
You will find though that the main choices listed
on the Rene Oltra site are:
- Chalet Olympe (2 people)
- Chalet Apollon (2 people)
- Chalet Neptune (4 people)
- Mobile home Mobil-home Isis (4 people)
- Mobile home Mobil-Home Willerby (4 to
6 people)
- Chalet Zeus (6 people)
If you want to stay the cheapest
way, then simply renting a camp spot is probably
your best option. Buy a tent and a sleeping
bag and when you are at your resort you can
do what we did and buy a small table and chairs.

Arriving at the resort.
Access to the camping area
When
you travel and arrive at the entrance to the
enclosed naturism and nudists resort, you will
have to register in the office at the entrance.
You will usually need to pay roughly 10 or 20
euros for an entrance card.
Once inside the main resort, you
will then have to gain access to the campsite.
if you go to the campsite (which is situated
on the left side of the resort - see the naturism,
naturists and nudist resort map). At
the gate if you explain that you are checking
in, they will allow you to go just inside, to
the Rene Oltra office).
In the Rene Oltra office, you
will need to check-in and if you do not already
have an FFN card (French naturism and nudists
Federation membership), then you will need to
buy it there and again. You have to be a member
of the FFN to stay in the camp site. To stay
at Cap d'Agde naturists and naturism village,
but not in the camping area, you do NOt need
to have an FFN card.
One you are signed in and paid
up, you will be allocated your spot, home or
chalet. You will also be given a coloured wristband
and this wristband is your entrance to the campsite
for the rest of your stay.

Cap Da'gde Internet Access and Wireless
Points
There
is Internet access in the Rene Oltra office
just inside the entrance to the campsite. from
what I saw personally, several people also have
satellite dishes on their mobile Homes in the
campsite and several had laptops. I am unsure
as this time as to whether or not they were
connected to the net.
There is also a small Internet
cafe on the main part of the naturist village
in the Port
Ambonne building. Internet usage is expensive
in the Rene Oltra office building and in the
Internet cafe at about 10 euros an hour.

Benefits of the naturist camp site
area
My
wife and I have stayed in Hotel Eve, in the
campsite and also in some of the main blocks.
For us though, the camp site was the best experience
and this for many reasons. The main reasons
were:
- There are far more naturists on the campsite
and people walk around in the buff 24 hours
a day.
- It can be far cheaper than staying in Hotel
Eve (especially if camping i.e. with a tent)
- There are entrances directly onto the beach
- There are more choices for entertainment,
with some facilities in the camping area only
for people staying in the camp area
- The general atmosphere is just great on the
campsite. It is difficult to explain but the
genuine feeling is great, i.e. with many people
cooking by barbeque and making their own food
and sitting down outside in groups of friends
etc. Learn more about naturist
accommodation in Agde France.

Family naturism and nudists camping
at Cap d'Agde
There
is sometimes discussion as to whether or not
Cap d'Agde is a good resort for family
naturisml. Is it good for family vacations
and holidays?
The fact is, is that the camping
area is very much a real naturists area and
many families stay in the campsite. There were
many young children on the campsite and there
is even a children's club, where activities
are organised. My wife and i ourselves would
not hesitate to take our young children to Cap d'Agde but we would stay in the camping area
if we had kids with us.
It is quite true that there are
many naturists centres in France and some are
perhaps more geared towards family naturism
and naturistsl. Having said that, this campsite
and the beach are probably as good as any in
France. other campsites may offer more entertainment
but they are also more expensive. Why not try
Cap d'Agde once at least.

your ideas to us.
