Skiing in France

As well as having excellent beaches, vineyards and tasty cuisine, France is well-known for something else entirely.  The skiing on offer in the country is some of the best in the world and the famous ski resorts attract visitors from around the world. From the luxury resort of Courchevel to the lesser known area of Paradiski, the skiing in France combines excellent runs with great food and fantastic après ski.

One of the most popular ski areas in the country is the Three Valleys, where you will find Meribel, Courchevel and Val Thorens. This ski area is the largest in the world to be connected solely by ski lifts and slopes. Courchevel, Val Thorens and Meribel ski holidays offer you the chance to ski in this area and with 410 miles of slopes you will never be bored.

Whether you are a beginner or an advanced skier there is a slope for you and with practice slopes dotted around most of the main resorts you can practice close to home. If you are up for a challenge then the area has some amazing off-piste skiing on offer and a local guide will be able to take you on adventures around the mountains.

After you have spent the day on the slope why not take in some of the après ski. One of the most famous après ski attractions in Meribel is Le Rond Point bar, jam packet with young and old skiers alike the bar takes off after dark, with live bands and flowing beer. With access to so many resorts in the Three Valleys, après ski is not limited to Meribel. Courchevel 1850 and Bar le Jump provide some of the best après ski in the mountains.

If you fancy a day away from the slope why not visit Courchevel 1850 and the selection of shops ranging from jewellers, fashion shops, children's clothing shops and home ware stores. Or simply spend the day in one of the many cafes and creperies dotted around the mountains. You could even take advantage of the many activities on offer in the region, including cross country skiing and sledging.
