5 Places for Naturism in Portugal

Portugal is one of the more liberal countries in Europe and has a relaxed attitude towards naturism, although it does not have as many naturist sites in comparison to its neighbour, Spain. Warm and sunny Portugal however does have five official clothes-free beaches and over 40 unofficial areas. Here is a guide to five places for naturism in Portugal.

1. Bela Vista – This beach is located South of Lisbon, on the Algarve coastline and has white sand dunes and shallow water ideal for swimming.

2. Meco - Renowned for its popularity, it lies south of Lisbon. This area has small springs of fresh water and nutrient rich green mud, which can be used for skin treatments.

3. Praia do Salto - Situated in the beautiful village of Porto Covo, Praia do Salto has natural springs with pure fresh water; the region’s privacy and peacefulness make it a one of Portugal’s favourite naturist beaches.

4. Adegas – This is a rocky bay near the Odeceixe Beach, which affords privacy to naturist couples, families, as well as singles as it is small and tucked under a cliff.

5. Ilha de Tavira – Located on East Algarve in the Island of Tavira, this is part of the Ria Formosa Natural Reserve and is replete with warm water and wide sandy beaches.

Portugal provides the naturist with a tranquil beach environment to vacation in with some outstanding seascapes, it also has mixed campsites such as Parque de Campismo Quinta dos Carricos.
