Cap d'agde FAQs

Let’s Answer Your Cap d’Agde Questions

Many of the very same questions come up time and time again for people going to a naturist resort for the first time.

Every resort is different given the variation in location and size of the resort. Below though we take a look at 5 very often asked questions that people ask me about Cap d’Agde.

What do I Need to Pack

This is a popular question I think both for the fun element in that what exactly does one need in a naturist resort and from a genuine point of view. Not as much as on a clothed holiday for sure.

Many of the travel accessories you will need are the same as for a clothed holiday i.e. sunglasses, spending money, reading books, a towel, and so on.

One thing you might not consider which you really should include is warm clothing.

Many people do not pack for cold weather and in resorts even in places that are hot in the daytime, it can become quite cool late at night and you might need to wrap up.

Can I take Photographs?

For the most part, the answer is no.

If you take photos of others then you could get in trouble. Taking pictures of your partner or yourself is normally considered perfectly fine.

This rule can be enforced quite strictly by people staying in the resort in that it is not unknown for others on the beach to grab your camera away from you if you are seen taking pictures of others.

The best way to look at things is the old adage to treat people as you would want to be treated.

Despite the hedonistic and carefree lifestyle at Cap, most people do not want to go to Cap to be photographed and seen online.

Respect other people and do not try to photograph them unless you want to upset other visitors and find yourself in a confrontation.

Can I avoid clothes 24 hours a day?

Some people manage to avoid clothes for the full 24 hours and for 7 days a week on holiday.

The truth though as discussed under what to pack, is that evening times can often get chilly, and putting on something to keep warm is often needed.

So 24 hours a day is not easy to do but some visitors do. Some visitors seem to love the challenge of doing the 24/7 without clothes and it can be done.

Do you have to be a member of an organization?

It depends on the resort in question but if you are visiting Cap then you do not need any membership for any club or association.

What you will find though is that if you stay in the camping area, the campsite front office will charge you to join the French association when they check you in.

It is mandatory if you stay only in the campsite but you can pay at check-in.

What age and type of people do you normally come across

It is true that there are many older people who are naturists as popular opinion goes. The truth though also is that you can people of all ages from 18 through to 80 and of all shapes and sizes.

Every shape, size, and age – and no one seems to worry about how they look.

More Common Questions

Just to quickly cover a few more questions whilst we are at it but with some quick-fire responses for you! Many people often ask:

What are the downsides to visiting Cap d’Agde?

The truth is that the accommodation for what it is tends to be expensive and in some cases outdated.

If you really want luxury then you will have to pay double what you would if you went to another beach resort because you are really paying for the atmosphere and for the uniqueness of the resort.

And the accommodation owners themselves are well aware of the supply and the demand.

Do I have to speak French in the resort?

You really do not need to speak French to visit the resort. Menus tend to be also in English or have pictures on them, and many places such as O2 Bizoux (previously called Johnny Wokkers bar) are English speaking, and staff in most of the restaurants speak English.

I personally always recommend trying and learning a few words of French just so that you can interact with the local staff more. Just saying literally 3 or 4 words in French can really make a difference in that the staff then opens up more.

The French are very proud of their language and why not just spend 5 minutes learning 5 – 10 words?
